New Scientist

I’ve been on the verge of cancelling my New Scientist subscription for a long time, but it still contains a lot of news and interesting articles on cosmology and particle physics. But this week’s front cover could be the last straw:

“The Folly of Growth: How to stop the economy killing the planet.”

I think I know what’s coming, and if I’m right, that’s it. The notion that economic growth requires using more resources has been debunked a million times. I still haven’t forgiven my secondary school science teacher for inviting in a guest teacher to tell us that growth would have to end within ten years or else we’d run out of everything.
